Video Jack & the Devil

Idiot Prince from Video Jack

André Carrilho and Nuno Correia’s Video Jack outfit will perform an adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel Master and Margarita this evening at Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art as part of Pixelache’s closing festivities.

Spinning a distinctive web of interactive animation, live data feeds, and original music from Correia’s Coden project, Video Jack have performed worldwide with the likes of Ellen Allien, Radio Slave, Matthew Dear, Sami Koivikko and DJ Koze. Watching this duo tackle a Russian novel in which the devil visits the Soviet Union will definitely be worth the Sunday evening trip.

The press release says:

The visual style of Video Jack’s “Master and Margarita” brings together a graphical collage of photographic and drawn elements into interactive animations, with a strong influence of Soviet-period imagery. The surreal, almost demential, universe of Bulgakov is captured graphically. In sonic terms, the references are Igor Stravinsky, Kurt Weil, Can, Einstürzende Neubauten, Pan Sonic and Vladislav Delay.
