Helsinki Towns
Breaking up Helsinki into NYC zones.
Perhaps I’m unfairly applying the ethics of New York City, but if you live in Töölö and I live in Punavuori, then it’s only fair that we meet in midtown for lunch. Unfortunately, nobody in Helsinki seems to know what I’m talking about when I start banging on about the politics of downtown, midtown, and uptown. Thus, I’ve put together this handy map to clear things up. Figure out where you live and let’s plan accordingly. But really, you should just meet me downtown. It’s easier that way.

espoo would be a combo of jersey + long island + new haven etc.
As a proud Kallio citizen I’m afraid I’m going to have to dispute this interpretation.
also, i guess you could call töölö etc. “upper west side” and kallio the “upper east side” (although it doesnt share many characteristics).
but in general i suggest using the finnish names to decide meeting points
1 to 11 in the “List of Helsinki neighbourhoods” is akin to your map.
